Extend IdM to Cloud News

The Identity Management (IdM) team of OIT’s Enterprise Application Services is actively working on extending the primary authentication infrastructure including the Central Authentication System (CAS) and the Federated Identity (Shibboleth) to a cloud environment. The new instances will be more robust with cloud/on-premises failover design, site resilience, and enhanced high availability for systems and applications.

The migration approach will be twofold:

  • First, the team will migrate current production on premise authentication infrastructure to newer on premise infrastructure that can work seamlessly (as back up) for the cloud. This is planned for April 11, 2017.
  • Second phase of the migration will be to extend the production authentication infrastructure to cloud infrastructure, this is planned to occur on April 12, 2017 and will be seamless to the user.

During the migration implementation time slots, which is from 4:00 am to 7:00 am  there may be very brief authentication and portal service interruptions.
