PersonRegistry System Overview
If you are responsible for the technical management of an IT system at the University, how you will interact with the Registry depends on what sort data you manage. Because much of the technical detail has yet to be decided, we will just present an overview of what is happening here. Feel free to contact us for further information.
PersonRegistry
The PersonRegistry is being developed as an open-source platform called “OpenRegistry”. You can find out more about this platform here.
The main core functionalities of the PersonRegistry are:
- Identity data store
- Identity reconciliation from multiple systems of record
- Identifier assignment for new, unique individuals
- Interface for Batch, Web and Rest
- Built-in Audit capabilities

- Automating User Lifecycle Management
- Faster propagation of data from System of Records (SoRs) , real time where possible
- Role base access control
- Facilitates provisioning/de provisioning engines
- Directory builder
System Of Record (SoR) :
The system that holds authoritative records about a population affiliated with the University is called System Of Record. Today PersonRegistry is integrated with the following system of records:
- UHR: Employees
- SIS: Students
- Enterprise Guest System: Sponsored accounts (guests)
- Enterprise Messaging: Authoritative source for the Campus email address
Downstream Systems:
After the creation of the Digital Identity and the associated roles, the PersonRegistry provisioning engine propagates the information to the downstream systems. Some examples of downstream system
- LDAP: Central IdM Directory system
- RBHS AD Core: Enterprise AD for RBHS
- Rutgers Active Directory (RAD): Enterprise Rutgers Active Directory
- People Data Base (PDB): Used as a data service hub
- Id Card Central Repository
- Salesforce Performance Management ( via API)
- Grouper: Enterprise Group Management System
